Happy New Year, Cynthia. Perfect timing for this topic as I am finishing a big project in steps starting this month. I haven't decided exactly how I will be serializing my graphic novel, Croneville Carnival, but depending on how long each issue/chapter is for monthly posting, I'm guessing 1-2 years.
I've noticed something interesting about myself over the years. When I choose a project, it's usually because I feel like I should or because it's needed in the world. And those are my LEAST successful projects. Many, in fact, are never finished.
When a project chooses me, there's no way I can stop working on it or not finish it. I find it coming up in my sketchbooks and journals over and over again until a story or outline emerges, a title appears, and then the project uses me to create itself. That's how it feels, anyway!
Looking forward to the rest of this month's posts.
I love your practice of going with projects that choose YOU, Donna. Really coming from within and not from a place of performance or ego.
I also think/hope/want this to be the same for everyone - that when they are engaged in a project, there's no need to force or 'discipline' ourselves to do the work. We are devoted, called, lured into it because we love it.
I’m so happy to be with you and to see you Cynthia on this first day of the year! I faded away over the last two months. I feel inspired after hearing your post that I can return to creating again! Hurray! And thank you.
Glad to have you back! I know this year will be stellar for your creativity. You've changed and developed a lot as a person in the last year and I suspect that will inform your work.
