I may have to rethink my plan after last night. I will have to keep my mind busy and focused. I can't afford to have a breakdown in mental health again like I did in 2016-2019.
Great ideas here. Would love to know which meditative music you use with writing sprints if you care to share. The recalibration is SO essential. An offshoot from this is sometimes when I first sit at my desk in the morning I think about all that I've already accomplished that morning (usually not writing-related -but it helps to remind myself I'm not *starting* my day now, I've already put out various fires, and I have to come down from that adrenaline rush and re-focus to a quieter stretch of productivity). I have started in the past maybe 4 months keeping my journal open - when I remember and when the house is neat enough - and having it so readily available has a huge impact. Instead of the default to scrolling half the time I'll default to journaling (like I used to) and it feels so good. Thanks for this lovely post.
Default to journaling - I love that! Your shifting gears process sounds so visceral and useful. I use Insight Timer app, which allows me to choose different lengths of time. I play it at work, too, when I like to feel a sense of company.

Yes, prioritize your mental health above all!

Oh that's neat! I usually play similar things on youtube but I'll have to check that out.
Gosh, Cynthia, this is extremely helpful. Thank you!
So glad, Kelly! Anything you plan to experiment with this week?
