I am excited about this month’s theme of play. We all need it, even when times are tense. Especially so!

Play looks different for everyone, and I hope you enjoy reconnecting with your playful self this month.

One of the main reasons I love writing is wordplay. Language is fascinating to me. Writing and reading have always stimulated me in joyful ways. Learning new languages really lights up my joy meter. Studying a language is a lot like writing.

While writing a novel is a ton of hard work, it’s also play. It took me just over two years to write Her Lisbon Colors. The second year was much more fun than the first. I got to be more playful and creative.
